Review Summary
Free to be Thin is a book that aims to show readers how to lose weight and how to keep it off. It is written by Marie Chapian and Neva Coyle who both have authored other books that use self-help and motivation as an approach to the issue.
This book was first published almost 30 years ago and a second edition came out 12 years ago. With new information and developments coming out of the diet industry at such a rapid pace, many people would tend to think that this book probably contains outdated information. Nevertheless, in this review, we shall be taking a closer look at this tome and the diet program it offers to determine whether it would be able to help dieters achieve weight loss.

Concept
There is hardly any information about this book that is available online, although we do know that it is basically focused on overeating and behavior modification. Also, we are aware that this program presents a Christian perspective to weight loss. The authors share healthy diet lifestyle tips and explain that dieters need to create a healthy balance between diet and exercise.
As previously mentioned, the book may offer methods which may already be outdated and ineffective considering the fact that there have been great advances made pertaining to weight loss since the book was initially published. However, we certainly appreciate it that the authors seem to emphasize the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise in an effective weight loss program.

Consumer Feedback
As expected, there are mixed reviews on Free to be Thin. Some claim to have achieved success with the plan, while others put down the whole program. Several reviewers say that they bought the book basically for the Christian approach it offers, but feel that the authors depend too much on the method instead of offering sound and practical advice. One reviewer for instance, demanded more fitness advice beyond simply putting things in the hands o God.
Interestingly, not one of the reviews we came across talked about experiencing significant results, even the most positive ones.

Alternative Options
Most people would prefer a more detailed and comprehensive diet and nutrition plan that keeps in stride with the latest developments in the field. There is an abundance of books and online programs that teach proper eating and different exercise regimens based on an individual’s fitness level. Regular gym workouts or a simple daily 30-minute cardiovascular activity may yield significant results over time.
Reducing the amount of empty calories taken everyday is a good way to get started on a weight loss program. There are now proven weight loss agents such as Hoodia Gordonii which is an African herb that has been shown in clinical trials to be effective in reducing hunger and controlling food cravings.

| Final Thoughts |
This diet may appeal to people who specifically prefer to base their weight loss program on Godly principles. However, for people who would much rather get more concrete weight loss information such as guidance on what to eat and how to exercise, this book may not be the most ideal. Fortunately, there are many other diet and fitness plans available online with some sites even offering information and advice for free.
Taking an herbal supplement may significantly improve weight loss results. There are products that claim to boost energy levels, increase metabolism and curb the appetite. We suggest that dieters look for a supplement with a formula that contains proven and patented ingredients as these are an assurance of quality.
